Child Care Health Consultant

This activity makes it possible for a registered nurse, known as a child care health consultant (CCHC), to serve as a resource to child care centers and homes by providing on-site and off site workshops to child care providers. Workshop topics include: basic immunization requirements, sanitation, safety, nutrition, signs and symptoms of illnesses, and identification of child abuse and neglect. The CCHC also assists childcare providers in meeting licensure requirements improving standards, and developing emergency plans. She visits the facilities as requested by the childcare staff to provide technical assistance, to assist with the development of policies and procedures, follow-up on environmental sanitation inspections, and to address issues of immediate concern. For more information, contact Twila Bowen, Duplin County Health Services, at 910-296-2130 ext 300.
